Andrea Fuenzalida

It has been a while since the last post. Finding hidden artist is not as easy as one might presume. However, today is different and it is time to deliver. San Francisco has presented me with Andrea Fuenazalida: a painter, illustrator, animator, and graphic designer.

kristina varaksina

About a year ago in one of my classrooms a teacher gave us a series of photos as examples of student work. Among them was that of Kristina Varaksina, but I did not know it at the time. Earlier today I ended up encountering that photo on a social media and I just couldn’t believe it. I was thrilled to see her work being spread and enjoyed so I thought I would continue spreading the word. http://kristinavaraksina.com/

20 Historic Black and White Photos Colorized

TwistedSifter

One of the greatest facets of reddit are the thriving subreddits, niche communities of people who share a passion for a specific topic. One of the Sifter’s personal favourites is r/ColorizedHistory. The major contributors are a mix of professional and amateur colorizers that bring historic photos to life through color. All of them are highly skilled digital artists that use a combination of historical reference material and a natural eye for colour.

When we see old photos in black and white, we sometimes forget that life back then was experienced in the same vibrant colours that surround us today. This gallery of talented artists helps us remember that 🙂

Below you will find a collection of some of the highest rated colorized images to date on r/ColorizedHistory.

I’ve also provide a list of some of the top contributors (in no particular order):

Leanne Cole

I am a big “fan” of fine art and throughout these last couple of years I have realized how scarce it is to come across. The last couple of art shows I have attended have lacked the category and it is really disappointing. Being a new member to this Internet world I have really enjoyed the artist I have encountered one being Leanne Cole. I recently read a post she wrote about networking, an issue I feel a lot of fine artist encounter. Networking takes a lot of work and a lot of energy I know a lot of fine artist probably don’t have. I never really felt it to be important in my work until now. The thought to me is very scary and overwhelming. Something I know I cannot tackle yet. This is one of the reasons I started this blog because I knew that like myself there were so many people that could relate. I would like to be that voice, however small that recognizes your talent.

Daniella Zalcman . Photographer

I really enjoying viewing and reading this post. I think Daniella touched a very important topic in terms of photography and present day technology. As a photographer the idea of using an iPhone to snap a picture is sometimes guilt ridden. The transition is definitely hard to get used to but highly convenient as Daniella mentions. We are all constantly on our phones now, so why not use this new platform?

New York + London 52, 2013

Our lives are surrounded, flooded by images. All of these images have an impact on us, but only a few of them register consciously and give you that ‘aha’ sensation. Daniella’s New York + London did just that to me: there’s some playful immediacy about them, you’re drawn into a game of trying to guess where they were taken. At the same time, many of them take you floating above these cities, showing you the world from a dreamy, lonely, god-like perspective.

Artist

In hopes of bringing more attention to up and coming artist that are often over shadowed by “big neighborhood” names I hoped to start this blog to bring attention to artist//people I feel deserve some recognition. My first submission is of San Francisco based student photographer Ariella Greenfield. Her geometrical landscape creations are surreal and all independently unique. Enjoy!
